St. Kitts & Nevis, also known as Saint Christopher and Nevis, has been independent since 1983 and forms part of a group of islands known as the Lesser Antilles, located some 2,000km to the south of Miami. The Federation comprises two islands: Nevis with an area of 93.2km squared and St. Kitts with 168.4km squared. The official language is English. Moreover, the Federation is a member of the United Nations (UN), the Organisation of American States (OAS), the Commonwealth and many other international organisations. The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank has its headquarters on St. Kitts, and it maintains the stability of the Eastern Caribbean Dollar (EC$). This is the national Currency of most Eastern Caribbean countries and as the name suggests is closely tied to the US Dollar. St. Kitts & Nevis is a well-functioning democracy, based on the British Parliamentary System, with Head of State King Charles III.

Nevis is a 36 square mile (93 kilometres) island in the Caribbean, with Charlestown being its capital. The island is located 250 miles southeast of Puerto Rico, 30 miles west of Antigua and 2 miles south of its sister island of Saint Christopher (better known as Saint Kitts).

Regional carriers provide daily access from Vance Amory International Airport to Saint Kitts. Nevis has a certain level of autonomy as it has its own laws, Parliament and Premier. Nevis also has its own flag which contains elements of the flag of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis. There is a High Court in Saint Kitts-Nevis, from which appeals are taken to the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court in Saint Lucia, with final appeals to the Privy Council in London.

With ample amount of unspoilt nature and several luxury resorts including a Four Seasons Resort, tourism is a major source of income for Nevis. A number of recent developments has led offshore financial services such as banks, trust companies and asset management firms to expand onto the island and become a booming sector of the economy.
